Israel’s legitimate fears over the Iran Nuclear Deal are beginning to materialize and the Jewish state is demanding world condemnation as Iran announced it will fund Palestinian terrorists and their families.
Israel condemned remarks made by the Iranian ambassador in Lebanon Mohammad Fathali at a press conference on Wednesday in which he announced that Iran will give financial support to Palestinian terrorists and their families, thus fueling the wave of almost daily terror attacks which have claimed the lives of 312 victims and wounded over 350.
Fathali announced Iran will give $7,000 to families of “martyrs of the intifada in occupied Jerusalem” and a further “$30,000 to every family whose home the ‘occupation’ has demolished for the participation of one of its sons.”
“This is further proof of Iran’s deep involvement in encouraging terrorism against Israel,” the statement read. Israel charged that following the signing of the nuclear deal and receiving a huge influx of cash, Iran “is allowing itself to once again be a central player in global terror.”
Israel has repeatedly expressed its fears that the billions of Iranian funds freed as part of the nuclear deal will be used to finance its global terror network, and especially its belligerent regional activities.
Israel’s envoy to the United Nations Danny Danon penned a letter to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon demanding that he condemn the statement by Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon.
“Iran is continuing to sow terror throughout the world and is fueling the flames of Palestinian terror and incitement,” Danon wrote. “If the UN is really interested in bringing calm to our region, they must cut off the flow of Iranian financial support of terrorism,” he added.
Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on Wednesday warned that Iran is building a global terror network with “sleeper cells” that are stockpiling arms, intelligence and operatives in order to strike on command, including in Europe and the US.
