Israel’s Ministry of Defense inaugurated its national pavilion at the IMDEX Asia Naval and Maritime Defense Exhibition on Wednesday in Singapore.

SIBAT, the ministry’s International Defense Cooperation Directorate, is leading a delegation of seven Israeli defense industries participating in the event, which runs until May 5 at the Changi Exhibition Center in the island country and city-state in maritime Southeast Asia.

Brig. Gen. (res.) Yair Kulas, the head of SIBAT, opened the pavilion. He will meet with various regional and world leaders during the confab, which returns after a four-year hiatus.

The 13th edition of IMDEX Asia features more than 11,000 delegates from more than 60 countries and regions.

The seven Israeli defense industries presenting their technological solutions at the exhibition include Controp Precision Technologies, DSIT Solutions, Elbit Systems, Israel Aerospace Industries, Israel Shipyards, Orbit Communication Systems and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

“We are happy to inaugurate the national pavilion in IMDEX Asia, an exhibition that we have participated in for the past ten years since 2013,” said Kulas.

“We thank our counterparts for hosting us here, and we look forward to sharing Israeli technologies with our partners and furthering new cooperation in the region as well,” he continued. “We are confident in the high-level maritime solutions and technologies that the Israeli defense industries bring to the table.”

Singapore announced last year that it was upgrading its diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv from consulate to embassy status some 53 years after establishing formal ties with the Jewish state. Singapore also buys Israeli defense products. Israel has maintained an embassy there since 1968.

Israel in February inaugurated its first-ever national pavilion at the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in the United Arab Emirates, more than two years after normalizing relations with the Gulf state as part of the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords.

As part of joint efforts to strengthen relations with the Abraham Accords countries, SIBAT led a delegation of more than 30 Israeli companies at the biennial event, which ran from Feb. 20-24. The arms and defense technology sales exhibition in Abu Dhabi is the largest in the Mideast.
