In a sign of continually improving ties, Israel will participate for the first time in the upcoming Bahrain International Airshow.

The prestigious aviation event is the largest of its kind in the Persian Gulf, brings together leading figures in the aviation industry with the business, defense and government sectors to strike deals and explore areas of cooperation among the pavilions where businesses showcase their products.

The biennial air show takes place at the Sakhir Air Base on Nov. 9-11.

Israel Aerospace Industries announced it will be featuring “a variety of its state-of-the-art aviation products,” including civilian radar systems and electronic components, as well as air defense, coastal and drone systems.

“The Abraham Accords have opened the door for us to participate for the first time in this exhibition and to work collaboratively with our neighbors to deal with the common threats we face in the region,” said Amir Peretz, chairman of the IAI board of directors.

Rafael Defense Systems and Elbit Systems will also be present in the air show’s Israeli pavilion.

Israeli arms exports reached $11.3 billion in 2021 an all-time high. Sales continue surging because of higher defense spending in Europe, increased interest in Israeli military technology, and larger orders.

But the show isn’t only about defense technology.

The Media Line reported that the Israeli firm SpacePharma will be exhibiting a miniaturized laboratory for pharmaceutical experiments in outer space. The laboratory can be operated remotely by scientists working from Earth, and has already been used on several NASA and SpaceX flights.

To celebrate the second year of the Abraham accords, parachutists from Israel, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and U.S. participated in multinational jump in Bahrain on Thursday. The IDF said 40 of its paratroopers took part in the jump.
