Israeli-American basketball player Emmanuel Sharp has signed a three-year, $6.35 million contract with the Sacramento Kings after the team awarded the 2026 second-round draft pick a guaranteed NBA deal.
Sharp, who was selected 45th overall in the 2026 NBA Draft, had not initially received a guaranteed contract.
Despite second-round selections typically competing to secure a roster spot, the Kings opted to sign the 22-year-old guard to a standard contract as the franchise continues its rebuilding process.
Born in Tel Aviv, Sharp had also attracted interest from several top clubs in Israel’s Premier League but will instead begin his professional career in the NBA.
Speaking to Walla after the draft, Sharp said he was grateful for the reception he received from Sacramento supporters.
“It’s wonderful to be here. I wasn’t prepared for all the love I’ve received from the fans, but it shows how invested they are in the team. I can’t wait to play in front of them,” Sharp said at his post-draft news conference.
Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry praised the former University of Houston standout, highlighting both his leadership and shooting ability.
“Emanuel was the leader of one of the best college basketball programs, at the University of Houston. He’s one of the best shooters there is,” Perry said, according to Walla.
Sharp completed his fourth and final collegiate season at Houston, averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 37.2% from 3-point range.
He also averaged 3 rebounds and 1.7 assists and established himself as one of the top shooting and defensive guards in college basketball.
Before the draft, Sharp participated in workouts with 13 NBA teams.
The guaranteed contract represents a significant milestone for Sharp, whose draft position left his professional future uncertain before Sacramento committed to a standard NBA deal.
