Israel’s Foreign Ministry issued a blistering response to the controversial Gaza documentary NAZA, accusing its creators of spreading false allegations about the IDF as part of a broader campaign to demonize Israel.

“The ‘film’ NAZA is pure propaganda, created by radicals who serve the narrative of murderous terrorists,” the ministry said, describing the documentary as part of an anti-Israel campaign driven by an alliance between the radical left and Islamist movements.

The ministry said the film relies on anonymous sources to make serious allegations against the Israeli military without providing credible evidence or documentation.

It singled out the film’s claim that the IDF approved a planned strike despite anticipating that 500 civilians would be killed.

“This is false. It never happened. Never,” the ministry said. “The IDF would never approve such an operational plan.”

According to the ministry, the allegation exemplifies a broader tactic in which sensational accusations against Israel receive widespread attention before they can be scrutinized, while subsequent corrections receive significantly less exposure.

“Introduce a shocking falsehood, amplify it around the world, and allow it to shape headlines and public opinion,” the ministry said, describing what it alleged was the method behind the film.

The Foreign Ministry also rejected the film’s portrayal of the IDF’s use of artificial intelligence, denying that AI systems are permitted to independently make operational decisions.

“Operational decisions are made within a defined human chain of command and are subject to human judgment and oversight,” it said, adding that the military maintains extensive procedures aimed at minimizing harm to civilians.

The ministry also sharply attacked NAZA co-director Yuval Abraham, describing him as a “longtime radical anti-Israeli activist” rather than a neutral investigative journalist and accusing him of seeking to delegitimize Israel.

It further accused the filmmakers of effectively erasing Hamas from the story of the Gaza war, despite the terror group’s October 7 massacre and its practice of operating from within civilian areas.

“Hamas deliberately targets Israeli civilians, as it did on October 7, while embedding itself within Gaza’s civilian population and using civilians as human shields,” the ministry said.

“Israel is fighting this bloodthirsty jihadist terrorist organization while the IDF operates in accordance with international law and takes extensive measures to minimize civilian harm.”

The statement comes amid a growing Israeli backlash against NAZA, which accuses the IDF of deliberately and systematically killing Palestinian civilians during the Gaza war.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has denounced the documentary’s allegations as “blood libels” and ordered a legal review of possible action related to the film, as well as an investigation into whether classified military material was leaked for its production.

Defense Minister Israel Katz has also invoked the film while defending the IDF’s conduct, saying Tuesday that Israel’s policy is to “eliminate terrorists and remove threats” rather than target civilians.
