Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat won the European floor exercise championship Friday, securing his third continental title and adding another gold medal to a career that includes Olympic and world championships.
Dolgopyat, who represents Maccabi Tel Aviv, scored 14.466 points in the final at the European Championships in Croatia.
The victory follows his previous European floor exercise titles in 2020 and 2022.
The 29-year-old has also finished second in the event at the European Championships four times, taking silver medals in 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024.
“Artem once again proves that he is made of the stuff of great champions,” Israel Gymnastics Federation chairman Avi Sagi said, praising Dolgopyat’s “extraordinary talent, determination and hard work.”
Sagi described the latest gold medal as “another great and moving moment for Israeli gymnastics and Israeli sport.”
Dolgopyat’s European victory adds to a record that includes medals at the Olympic Games and World Championships.
He won Olympic gold in the floor exercise at the Tokyo Games and later earned the silver medal in the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Dolgopyat has also won three World Championship medals in the floor exercise. He took silver in 2017 and 2019 before winning the world title in 2023.
At an earlier European Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Munich, Dolgopyat competed as the seventh of eight finalists and recorded a score of 14.966 despite an injured foot.
That performance put him ahead of Hungary’s Christopher Masaruch, who scored 14.600. Britain’s Jake German, the eighth and final competitor, recorded 14.433 and did not overtake Dolgopyat.
Friday’s result in Croatia gave Dolgopyat another European championship after his previous victories and extended a medal record spanning European, world and Olympic competition.
