Jordan acted on its vow to retaliate against ISIS for brutally killing a Jordanian pilot, and bombed the terrorist organization’s self-proclaimed capital in northern Syria.

Jordan continued to exact revenge on the Islamic State (ISIS) on Thursday when it attacked the terror organization’s self-proclaimed capital city of al-Raqqah in northern Syria, retaliating for ISIS’ burning to death of Jordanian pilot Moaz al-Kasaesbeh.

The Arab Al-Arabiyah news site reports that the Jordanian Royal Air Force attacked the city, killing 55 people, including a high-ranking ISIS commander known as the “Prince of Nineveh.”

Upon return, the fighter jets flew over Karak, the hometown of al-Kasaesbeh, in a display of homage, and over Amman, the Jordanian capital.

“The blood of martyr Moaz al-Kasaesbeh will not be in vain, and the response of Jordan and its army after what happened to our dear son will be severe,” vowed King Abdullah in a statement released by the royal court on Wednesday.

According to some reports, the king himself flew with the sortie.

Jordan’s information minister, Mohammad al-Momani, told AFP that Amman was “more determined than ever to fight the terrorist group.” A Jordanian government spokesman said Jordan would step up its role in the US-led international coalition against ISIS.

After news of al-Kasaesbeh’s barbaric death was made public, Jordan retaliated immediately by executing two terrorists, one whose release ISIS had repeatedly demanded.

The pilot’s father, Safi al-Kassasbeh, was not satisfied and told Reuters that more was necessary to avenge his son’s death. “I want the state to get revenge for my son’s blood through more executions of those people who follow this criminal group that shares nothing with Islam,” he stated.
