Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif told Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Hezbollah terror organization, that the nuclear agreement provides new ways to fight the Jewish state.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who negotiated the nuclear deal with the six world powers, stopped in Lebanon on the way to Syria, where he is scheduled to arrive later this week.

He met Tuesday with Hassan Nasrallah, secretary-general of the Hezbollah terror organization, in Beirut, where he underscored the necessity for increased talks and efforts to solve the regional conflicts, which he claimed were all caused by Israel.

“The current problems in the regional states, which are the result of Israel’s divisive policies and the extremist approaches of the terrorist groups, can be directed towards security, tranquility and unity among all political spectrums through talks and diplomacy,” Zarif said during the meeting, according to the Iranian Fars news agency.

“Zarif said from Beirut that the nuclear agreement between Tehran and the world powers created a historic opportunity to [sic] for regional cooperation to fight extremism and face threats posed by the Zionist entity,” Hezbollah’s al-Manar channel reports.

Hezbollah: Nuclear Deal is Iranian Victory, US Defeat

Nasrallah praised Iran for its diplomatic achievements in the nuclear talks. He described the results of the agreement as positive and constructive for Lebanon and the region. Hezbollah, which is supported and funded by Iran, views the outcome of the talks as an Iranian victory and an American defeat.

Zarif lauded Hezbollah’s terror activities, saying, “the resistance [i.e. terror] seeks to defend Lebanon and the region against the main threats of enemies which aim to destroy solidarity, security, infrastructures and peaceful coexistence of human beings.”

Zarif’s meeting in Beirut is part of his regional tour in wake of the Iran nuclear deal. He is scheduled to arrive Wednesday afternoon in Damascus.

Earlier Tuesday, Turkey said that Zarif postponed a scheduled stop there, which had been due to take place before his trip to Lebanon. There was no explanation from Ankara on the cancellation and no further details were immediately available.

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
