Obama: ‘Failure on My Part’ if Israel is Left ‘More Vulnerable’

Obama

President Obama made strong statements in a recent interview with The New York Times, stating if anybody messes with Israel, America will stand by its side.

In a video interview with The New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman, while discussing the recent framework nuclear deal with Iran in Lausanne Switzerland, US President Barack Obama said, “Our defense of Israel is unshakable. I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch or as a consequence of the work that I’ve done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable. And I think that’s not just a strategic failure; that would be a moral failure.”

He also said, “What we will be doing, even as we enter into this deal, is sending a very clear message to the Iranians and to the entire region that if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there.”
