P.A. Denies Jewish Connection to the Western Wall

While peace talks unfold the Palestinian Authority blatantly continues to  deny the Jewish historical and religious connection to the Western Wall.

Palestinian Media Watch documented another case of the Palestinian Authority denying the historical and religious Jewish connection to the Western Wall, the last remaining remnant of the Second Temple that the ancient Romans destroyed in 70 CE.  Palwatch reported a documentary broadcast twice on PA TV claiming that the Western Wall is an exclusively Islamic holy site. The documentary also asserted that Arab residential homes would be built on top of the plaza where Jews traditionally mourn the destruction of the Temple.

According to PA TV, “”They [Israelis] know for certain that our [Palestinian] roots are deeper than their false history. We, from the balcony of our home, look out over [Islamic] holiness (visual: Western Wall from a distance) and on sin and filth (visual: close up of Western Wall showing Jews praying) in an area that used to have [Arab] people and homes. We are drawing our new maps. When they [Israelis] disappear from the picture, like a forgotten chapter in the pages of our city’s history, we will build it anew (residential area). The Mughrabi Quarter will be built here (on the Western Wall Plaza).”

This is not an isolated case. Palestinian media sources consistently deny the  Jewish connection to the Western Wall.  The PA Presidential Guard’s official Facebook  recently posted a picture of the Western Wall with a PA flag superimposed on it, along with the words “Al Buraq Wall.” Al Buraq is a name given to the Western Wall by Arabs who reject the Jewish connection to the Western Wall, insisting instead that it is the location where Mohammed’s horse Al Buraq waited as Mohammed ascended into heaven.

United With Israel previously reported that Palestinian Authority Minister of Religious Affairs, Mahmoud Al Habbash, claimed that all of Jerusalem and the Western Wall, otherwise known as the Kotel, are “the sole right of the Palestinians” for “no person beside Muslims ever used it (Western Wall) as a place of worship throughout all of history until the ominous Balfour Declaration was issued in 1917.” He further claimed that “Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu’s statements concerning the occupation’s (i.e. Israel’s) ownership of the Western Wall are nothing but nonsense and an attempt to manipulate both history and geography, and are worthless from a religious, historical, or legal point of view.”

Despite the existence of peace talks,  the Palestinian Authority continues incitement against Israel unabated. In addition to denying the Jewish connection to the Western Wall and Jerusalem, official Palestinian Authority television  encourages their population to wage violent attacks against the Jewish community within Judea and Samaria, disseminates anti-semitic stereotypes , and praises Palestinian terrorists, whose release from prison is a precondition for even sitting down at the negotiating table.
