The Palestinian Authority and the Fatah Movement celebrated the anniversary of the 1978 Coastal Road Massacre, in which 37 Israelis were murdered in cold blood, including 12 children.

This week, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and its largest faction, the Fatah Movement – headed by PA leader Mahmoud Abbas – “celebrated” the anniversary of the Coastal Road Massacre, in which 37 Israelis were murdered in cold blood, including 12 children, and over 70 wounded.

On March 11, 1978, a group of terrorists from the Fatah Movement, led by female arch-terrorist Dalal Mughrabi, murdered Gail Rubin, an American tourist, before proceeding to hijack a bus and indiscriminately murder its passengers.

Over the past few days, the slaughter has been commemorated as a hallmark of Palestinian heroism in high-profile public celebrations throughout the PA, which take place annually. A public square in Ramallah was named for Mughrabi in 2010.

“The glorification of Mughrabi is directly linked to the Palestinian terrorists who operate today, perpetrating murderous attacks with the encouragement of the PA,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a statement, adding that the “systematic incitement to murder Israelis, led by official Palestinian Authority institutions, continues to intensify.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has requested of Ambassador Danny Danon, the Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN, to submit a complaint against the PA for turning a loathsome terrorist into a role model for Palestinian society, particularly as a wave of Palestinian terrorism and violence continues to rage, fed by a murderous campaign of incitement.

“It is intolerable that generations of Palestinians are being taught hatred of Jews and adoration of murderers,” the MFA stated.

Laila Ghannam, district governor of Ramallah, is another example of a senior PA official who continues to glorify terror. On the official Facebook page of the Ramallah and Al-Beireh Governorate on March 16, for example, as documented by Palestinian Media Watch, “Ghannam noted that the Ramallah and El-Bireh district is counting the days until it can receive Abd Al-Fattah as a free man.”

Abd Al-Fattah Doleh, a member of Fatah’s military wing, is one of two terrorists who shot and killed a 16-year-old Israeli boy, Ofir Rahum, in 2001. Meeting recently with Al-Fattah’s family, Ghannam referred to the murderer of an Israeli teen as a “heroic prisoner.”

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
