The PA appears to have threatened Israeli government ministers, and experience shows that these threats should be taken very seriously.

Is the Palestinian Authority (PA) threatening Israel’s ministers?

Fatah’s military wing, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, which is associated with PA head Mahmoud Abbas, publicized a call “to respond in kind” to what they termed the “assassination of Minister Ziad Abu Ein,” Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports.

Such an announcement could be interpreted as a signal to assassinate an Israeli minister, PMW explains.

The Fatah statement added that “Palestine would be liberated through the barrel of the rifle,” and “called on the masses of the Palestinian people to expand the intifada and the resistance to the occupation.”

Abu Ein, a terrorist responsible for the death of two Israelis, collapsed and died of a heart attack during a demonstration against Israel last Wednesday.

An autopsy concluded that he died of “a blockage of the coronary artery due to hemorrhaging underneath a layer of atherosclerotic plaque. The bleeding could have been caused by stress.”

Abu Ein was known to be in poor health, and “the poor condition of the deceased’s heart caused him to be more sensitive to stress,” the report stated.

The Palestinian coroner claimed the heart attack “was caused by injury” a few minutes after a heated exchange with an Israeli soldier.

Even before the coroner‘s report was released, the PA accused IDF soldiers of murder. Abbas called the incident “a savage attack…a barbaric act that cannot be passed over in silence nor accepted.” Fatah Central Committee member Sultan Abu Al-Einein said that “Israel crossed all red lines with its abominable crime” and that “the cold-blooded murder” will not be “passed over in silence.”

He threatened that “Fatah will set fire to the ground, which Ziad Abu Ein had redeemed with his blood, beneath the occupiers’ feet.”

Palestinians Act on Their Threats

PMW points out that these kinds of statements must be taken seriously, as Palestinians have previously acted on such threats.

When Israel killed terrorist leader Abu Ali Mustifa, head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), during the PA terror campaign in August of 2001, there were immediate calls for revenge. Abu Ali Talal, an executive committee member of the PFLP, declared: “Our response will be harsh,” and terrorists in the PFLPs military wing “swore to commit surprising and painful revenge attacks against the Zionists.”

Two months later, Israeli Minister Rehavam Zeevi was murdered in a Jerusalem hotel. Ahmad Sa’adat, secretary-general of the PFLP, who had replaced Ali Mustafa and planned the killing, acknowledged that it was a revenge murder committed by his terrorist organization. “The assassination of Ze’evi is in response to the killing by Israel of the director general of the PFLP, Abu Ali Mustifa,” he asserted.

Petition to the United States and European Union

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
