Palestinian terrorists continued to riot and attack Israelis with rocks and firebombs over Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar.

Jerusalem experienced several violent incidents caused by Palestinians over the holiday of Yom Kippur on Wednesday.

Israeli Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said there were multiple instances of rock-throwing and firebomb attacks by Palestinians on the Day of Atonement, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, which ended Wednesday evening.

Palestinian terrorists threw rocks at passing cars in several areas, and in one case damaged a Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance. They also targeted Jerusalem’s light rail system and hurled rocks at a fire engine dispatched to put out a fire in an Arab neighborhood, which is becoming almost a daily occurrence.

No injuries were reported in any of the attacks.

In another incident, terrorists threw a firebomb at a Jewish home in the mixed Jewish-Arab Abu-Tor neighborhood in Jerusalem. There were no injuries, but damage was caused to the property; police are investigating.

Also on Wednesday, IDF troops manning a post in the Jordan Valley arrested a Palestinian who approached their position carrying an explosive device.

Israeli police arrested 13 people overnight Wednesday in Jerusalem on suspicion of terror activities, including the throwing of rocks and Molotov cocktails.

Earlier, on Tuesday, a Palestinian woman was shot by IDF soldiers as she attempted to stab one of them at a checkpoint in Hebron.

“The perpetrator approached the checkpoint and the metal detector was activated, alerting the troops’ suspicion,” according to the IDF, adding that they became even more wary when she ignored their instructions to pause.

“Forces called for her to halt, which she ignored, and she continued moving while also pulling out a knife,” the military said. “At this point, forces fired at the ground, then at her lower extremities in attempts to stop her advancement. The perpetrator continued and at this point, recognizing a clear and present danger to their safety, the forces fired toward her.”

Palestinian terrorists also recently fired several rockets from the Gaza Strip, and Israel has deployed its Iron Dome rocket defense batteries in towns near Gaza.

Israel’s security cabinet will convene on Thursday to vote on proposed legislation introducing mandatory minimum sentences for terrorists convicted of throwing rocks and firebombs in an attempt to combat the mounting wave of Palestinian terror that has recently hit the capital. They also discussed the easing the rules of engagement regarding the police’s use of live fire in instances of life threatening rioting in Jerusalem.

Tensions boiled over last week on the eve of the Jewish New Year when Palestinians barricaded themselves inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount and, in attacks that would continue for days, threw rocks and firecrackers at security forces and Israeli civilians. In the most severe incident, an Israeli man was murdered in Jerusalem when Palestinians pelted his car with rocks.
