Rep. Randy Fine scored a decisive victory in Florida’s Republican congressional primary Tuesday, soundly defeating antisemitic social media influencer Dan Bilzerian after a campaign filled with vicious antisemitic attacks, Holocaust denial and anti-Israel rhetoric targeting Fine and the Jewish community.
Fine, a Jewish Republican and outspoken supporter of Israel, captured 56.9% of the vote in the solidly Republican district.
Bilzerian finished a distant second with 18.7%, or 16,773 votes, ahead of challengers Aaron Baker and Charles Gambaro.
Despite the decisive result, Bilzerian’s nearly one-in-five share of the vote drew attention following a campaign in which he repeatedly targeted Jews and Israel with inflammatory rhetoric.
Bilzerian, an internet personality with roughly 29 million Instagram followers, has a history of promoting antisemitic conspiracy theories. He has claimed that Jews had advance knowledge of the September 11 attacks, accused Jews of controlling the media, promoted conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and questioned the number of Jews murdered in the Holocaust.
His rhetoric intensified during the congressional campaign, with Fine becoming a frequent target.
Days before the election, Bilzerian posted photographs of himself with supporters alongside a message referring to what he called the “jewish problem.”
He also released an AI-generated campaign video targeting Fine with antisemitic slurs. The video referred indirectly to Adolf Hitler as “that Austrian painter” and suggested that his “mission” should be “revisited,” an apparent reference to the Nazi campaign to annihilate European Jewry.
House Speaker Mike Johnson publicly condemned the attacks during the campaign.
“The vile attack ads against Congressman Randy Fine in Florida’s 6th District are disgusting and should be condemned by all political leaders on the Right and Left,” Johnson said.
“Antisemitism and outward hatred of Jewish communities have no place in our politics or in America, and we will continue to call them out wherever they arise,” he added.
Bilzerian has also directed extreme rhetoric at Israel. He previously said that if he became president, he would “declare war on Israel,” and in another appearance spoke of “exterminating Israel” while saying he would personally be willing to travel there to kill Israelis.
Fine’s commanding victory ended Bilzerian’s bid for the Republican nomination, but the challenger’s 18.7% showing meant that nearly one in five Republican primary voters backed him despite his openly antisemitic campaign.
Fine now advances to the general election in November in a district considered safely Republican.
