According to Hebrew and Arabic media reports, an Israeli air strike in Syria on Thursday killed a Hezbollah commander and a senior figure in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Israel has confirmed carrying out numerous strikes in Syria to prevent Iran entrenchment. However, Jerusalem rarely comments on specific operations.
Qurayashi reportedly fought in Syria for years, and took part in operations together with Qassem Soleimani, the IRGC commander assassinated in Baghdad in 2020 by the U.S.
According to an unconfirmed report in Asharq al-Awsat, Russia “[has run] out of patience” with Israel’s strikes in Syria. The London-based paper reported that “Moscow received a confirmation that Washington does not welcome the continuous Israeli raids.”
Based on this understanding, Russia has reportedly bolstered Syrian air defenses. Damascus claimed it intercepted numerous Israeli missiles on Thursday, though it frequently makes such unverified claims.
