Saudi Columnist ‘Glad’ Netanyahu Addressing Congress on Bad Iran Deal

Netanyahu’s address to Congress on Iran has received support from a surprising source.

In a March 2, 2015, article in the Saudi daily Al-Jazirah, columnist Dr. Ahmad Al-Faraj defended Netanyahu’s decision to address Congress, MEMRI (Middle East Media Research Institute) reports.

Al-Faraj said that Obama was working to sign a deal with Iran at the expense of America’s longtime allies in the Gulf and that therefore Netanyahu’s campaign against the deal is justified and serves the interests of the Gulf states.

Washington and Jerusalem have been sparring in recent weeks over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming address to a joint session of Congress on the Iranian nuclear threat, a speech to which the White House has voiced vigorous opposition.

Netanyahu said that he views his address as a historic mission to try to prevent Iran from attaining a nuclear bomb, which would threaten Israel’s existence and set off a nuclear race in the Middle East. Before leaving for Washington, he explained his determination to present his position against a deal with Iran “to the elected representatives of the American people and to a worldwide audience.”

Sunni Arab states in the Gulf have likewise voiced fear of an agreement that would allow the Islamic Republic to become nuclear. Even so, it was interesting that a Saudi Arabian columnist expressed public support for Netanyahu’s Congress speech.

After reviewing a short history of the diplomatic and political strife generated by Netanyahu’s pending speech, the columnist concludes: “Since Obama is the godfather of the prefabricated revolutions in the Arab world, and since he is the ally of political Islam, [which is] the caring mother of [all] the terrorist organizations, and since he is working to sign an agreement with Iran that will come at the expense of the US’s longtime allies in the Gulf, I am very glad of Netanyahu’s firm stance and [his decision] to speak against the nuclear agreement at the American Congress despite the Obama administration’s anger and fury. I believe that Netanyahu’s conduct will serve our interests, the people of the Gulf, much more than the foolish behavior of one of the worst American presidents. Do you agree with me?”

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
