A terrorist on Thursday afternoon rammed into a 32 year old security guard at the Qalandiya Checkpoint in northern Jerusalem, lightly injuring him.
The terrorist was neutralized.
Initial investigations revealed terrorist was is an Israeli citizen, from the Arab village of Akab in the area of eastern Jerusalem.
Police said that an exacto knife covered in the terrorist’s blood had been found in the terrorist’s vehicle.
“The terrorist apparently cut himself. After he was stopped at the inspection station and a civilian security guard turned to him, he suddenly began driving and hit another civilian security guard standing nearby,” police said.
Police added that it is currently suspected that the ramming was a suicide attack.
According to Magen David Adom medic David Trachtenberg, the injured man sustained limb injuries. “We administered initial medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital,” he said, adding that the victim was conscious at the time.
The attack comes after two attempted terror attacks within hours of each other on Monday.
In one instance, terrorists shot at an IDF patrol vehicle in the community of Meirav, close to the eastern border of Israel.
In the other instance, a terrorist tried to carry out a stabbing attack at the Mizmoria Crossing in southern Jerusalem before being neutralized by security forces.
In addition, the IDF said that hundreds rioted on Sunday near the Gaza border fence, with rioters activating explosives in several instances.
