Nearly 900 Jews will have moved to Israel since the start of Operation Protective Edge. Not daunted by Israel’s enemies, they believe in the future of the Jewish state.

By the end of this week, close to 900 new immigrants from around the world will have arrived in Israel since the start of Operation Protective Edge, which began last Tuesday. Apparently, they were not intimidated by Hamas terror.

Sofa Landver, Minister of Immigration and Absorption, told a meeting of the Knesset State Control Committee on Monday about the “wonderful work” being done by Nefesh B’Nefesh, the premier organization helping immigrants to prepare for their move to a new country, according to a report on Israel National News.

The decision to leave a comfortable life in North America is a difficult one, Landver acknowledged.

“In the near future, we will begin a campaign in France to help Jews there become familiar with the possibilities for housing and employment in Israel,” she said.

According to Oded Forer, director of the Immigrant and Absorption Ministry, approximately 5,000 immigrants have been coming annually from France in recent years, the INN report said.

Member of Knesset Yoni Chetboun, the INN story continues, said that by the end of 2014, some 6,000 Jews will have immigrated from France, but between 2005 and 2012, 95 percent of the immigration funding was earmarked for aliyah from the North America and Great Britain.

The article also quoted MK Amnon Cohen, chairman of the Committee, who said:

“The successful absorption of each family is a major success. Unrest and instability, as well as anti-Semitism can break out anytime, anywhere – whether in France, the Ukraine, or anywhere else.”
