Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said that Obama will “march [the Israelis] to the door of the oven” by reaching a nuclear deal with Iran.

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas, compared President Barack Obama to the Nazis in criticizing the Iranian nuclear deal.

In an interview with Breitbart News, Huckabee said, “This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Harvard law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz responded directly to Breitbart News to contradict Huckabee’s comments. “There will be no ovens this time, as long as Israel has the right and might to defend its citizens from those who deny the Holocaust while calling for another one.” Breitbart noted that Dershowitz has been a strong opponent of the nuclear deal while generally being a supporter of Obama.

Anti-Defamation League National Director Jonathan A. Greenblatt issued a statement saying, “Whatever one’s views of the nuclear agreement with Iran – and we have been critical of it, noting that there are serious unanswered questions that need to be addressed – comments such as those by Mike Huckabee suggesting the president is leading Israel to another Holocaust are completely out of line and unacceptable.”

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman and co-founder of the National Jewish Democratic Council Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL) told CNN, “This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics,” adding that “cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable.”

Wasserman Schultz has not yet come out in favor or against the Iranian nuclear deal, but she was a supporter of the Iran Nuclear Review Act of 2015, which ensured Senate overview of the agreement. She is also on record as saying that “no deal is better than a bad deal, particularly given Iran’s horrific track-record of deception and continued facilitation of terrorism against the United States and our allies worldwide.”

Despite objections, the Huckabee campaign has doubled down on the governor’s comments, including tweeting them on his official Twitter feed. Campaign spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN, “The comment speaks for itself.”

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
