Soldiers in any army must possess bravery, determination, and strength to succeed in battle, but Izzy Ezagui stands apart as a truly exceptional soldier. In 2008, during Operation Cast Lead, he was struck by a mortar round that severed his left – and dominant – arm.

Despite the devastating injury, Izzy fought for over a year to recover both physically and mentally, eventually rejoining the IDF after relearning to shoot and participate in missions.

Following the Oct. 7 massacre, Izzy once again demonstrated unmatched bravery and resilience by sneaking into a base to rejoin his unit, heading into Gaza—where he had originally been wounded, proving his unmatched strength and fortitude.
