“This is the way to combat BDS,” said former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that the United States government is declaring that the anti-Israel boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement is anti-Semitic and will accordingly move to cut federal funding to any group that supports it.
The BDS movement promotes financial, academic and cultural boycotts of the Jewish state, ostensibly as a nonviolent protest of the so-called “Israeli occupation.” The movement calls for neither peace nor a two-state solution.
Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon praised the move and explained why labeling BDS as anti-Semitic is so important in the fight against Jew-hatred.
