On Sunday, Israel celebrated Aliyah, the Jewish immigration to Israel, one of the cornerstones of modern Zionism.

Israel celebrated “Aliyah Day” in honor of the Olim, new immigrants to Israel, on Sunday.

Established in 2016, Aliyah Day is celebrated on the seventh day of the Hebrew month of Cheshvan, coinciding with the reading of the Torah portion in which the biblical Abraham is told by God to leave his home to go to Israel.

Usually, Aliyah Day is marked with celebrations, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the day was observed with little fanfare.

Watch as three immigrants talk about why they moved to the Holy Land, how they are managing, as well as how they planned to celebrate this special day!
