Is Ambassador to Israel David Friedman’s support for Judea and Samaria reflective of Trump administration policy?

US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman referred to the “important nationalistic, historical, and religious significance “of the communities in Judea and Samaria, commenting, “I think the settlers view themselves as Israelis, and Israel views the settlers as Israelis.”

A State Department spokeswoman later said Friedman’s remarks “should not be read as a change in U.S. policy.”

Danny Ayalon, a former Israeli ambassador to the US, discusses what importance, if any, Friedman’s beliefs hold when it comes to Washington’s stance on Jewish communities beyond the 1967 borders.
