Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dedicated a new town in the Golan Heights to U.S. President Donald Trump during a festive ceremony on Sunday.

Trump Heights, or Ramat Trump as it is known in Hebrew, was inaugurated on Sunday, bearing witness to Israel’s gratitude to the American president for his support for the Jewish state.

The community sits in the Golan Heights region, which President Trump recognized as sovereign Israeli territory. Israel took control of the Golan Heights some 52 years earlier when the IDF beat back Syrian forces in the strategically critical swath of land on Syria’s border.

On Sunday, Netanyahu presided over a cabinet meeting in the Golan Heights village of Kela Alon, during which he was joined by U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman. After the meeting, Trump Heights was dedicated in a joyous ceremony attended by Israeli and American dignitaries.
