Israeli Border Police officers gathered outside the hospital room of St.-Sgt. Barel Shmueli to sing and pray for his recovery.

The 21-year-old Shmueli is in critical condition at Beersheva’s Soroka Hospital after being shot by a Palestinian terrorist during a riot along the Israel-Gaza border on Saturday. A hospital spokesperson said Shmueli was unconscious, intubated and fighting for his life.

Messages on social media requested prayers for Barel Hadaria ben Nitza.
