While Sarah Ayal shot many of her photos working undercover for the Mossad, she also created a vast collection of candid shots of Israelis as the young nation came into its own.

Israeli photographer Sarah Ayal wore many hats in her lifetime: mother, Mossad agent, and gifted photographer, to name a few.

Ayal not only snapped photos undercover for the defense establishment, she also managed to capture vivid moments in Israeli society in the years following the Jewish state’s independence.

Her work is currently on display at Beit Avi Chai in Jerusalem, but you can catch a glimpse at her amazing images in the clip below!
