The Knesset cheered and gave a standing ovation after Israel’s first deaf Knesset member gave a speech in sign language!

Disability-rights activist Shirley Pinto from the Yemina party became Israel’s first deaf member of the Knesset in June.

This past week, Pinto gave her first speech to the Knesset – all in sign language!

Afterwards, the Knesset erupted into cheers and applause with many Knesset members using the sign for clapping.

What a beautiful way to end such a historic speech!
