After a daring escape from Afghanistan, will Zabulon Simantov come live in the Jewish state?

The man known as the “last Jew in Afghanistan” who watched over the country’s only remaining synagogue for decades successfully escaped the Taliban-ruled country and is now in Pakistan.

Zabulon Simantov, 61, initially refused to evacuate. However, after realizing his life was truly in danger, Simantov received assistance facilitated by a group of rabbis, including Rabbi Mendy Chitrik, the Ashkenazi Rabbi of Turkey’s Jewish community.

Rabbi Chitrik discussed Simantov’s escape and reveals whether he thinks Simantov might come to live in the Jewish state.
