This video has been circulating over the past several days to inspire Israelis to remain proud and strong. Begin’s words are important today more than ever.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has just concluded a visit to Israel in which he warned Jerusalem against applying sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria, the biblical homeland of the Jewish People.

In recent years, however, the German government has provided more than $20,000,000 to far-Left Israeli political organizations, a group of bereaved families told Maas on the eve of his visit in a letter penned together with the Zionist group Im Tirtzu.

“More than 17% of this sum was transferred to organizations that defend terrorists and their families in Israeli courts,” the letter said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a statement about his meeting with the German diplomat, said: “I told him to stop funding NGOs that work against Israel and that any political plan needs to recognize the reality of the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, and not nurture a fantasy of uprooting people from their homes.”

This legendary 1981 video of the late Prime Minister Menachem Begin’s blunt comments to then-German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, who spoke of his “moral” responsibility to the Palestinians, is relevant today more than ever.
