Netanyahu is visiting Liberia as the first leader of a non-African state invited to address the Economic Community of West African States.

Last summer, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embarked on a historic trip to Africa, where he visited Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Ethiopia. In exchange for Israeli expertise in security and other fields, he wants African states to side with the Jewish state at the United Nations and to establish positive diplomatic results that will last for decades.

More recently, in February, Netanyahu told a gathering of envoys to Africa that Israel’s top diplomatic goal on the continent is to end the 54-nation vote at the UN against the Jewish State, which forms the basis for the automatic majority against Israel. He repeated that objective on his current departure for Liberia.
