Netanyahu arrived in Ukraine on Sunday for the first official trip by an Israeli prime minister since 1999, embarking on a visit to strengthen ties between the two nations, bolster trade, and honor victims of the Holocaust who perished in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Monday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, signing bilateral agreements and declaring their nations’ intentions to ramp up cooperation on technology, education, and culture.

“I think the future belongs to those who innovate; Israel is the quintessential innovation nation,” said Netanyahu, JNS reported.

Netanyahu is the first Israeli prime minister to travel to Ukraine in two decades, and also represents the first head of state to visit Zelensky since he took office last April.
