WATCH: Next Israeli Eurovision Star Sings Opera/Pop Style ‘Hallelujah’

Theatrical vocalist Kobi Marimi was selected as the winner at the reality TV show “Rising Star for Eurovision” on Tuesday.

Kobi Marimi will represent Israel in the 2019 Eurovision song contest in Tel Aviv in May.

Israel won the right to host the contest last year when Netta Barzilai came in first place with her hit “Toy.”

Theatrical vocalist Marimi, 27, hails from Ramat Gan, a Tel Aviv suburb. He is a graduate of the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio in Tel Aviv, one of Israel’s top performing arts schools.

Watch as he performs his unique, opera/pop-style rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah.’
