WATCH: Palestinians Grapple with the Question – When Was ‘Palestine’ Established?

When was “Palestine” established and by whom? The answer depends on which Palestinian you ask.

Ask any citizens when and who established his state and he will give you a prompt and accurate answer.

However, when you ask a so-called Palestinian this question, you get a rambling, unclear answer.

Why is that?

Palestine was the Greco-Roman name for a region. In the year 135 AC, the name of the region became the official name of one of the provinces of the Roman Empire in an attempt to obliterate the connection between the Jewish people and Judea – the land they had inhabited for over 1,000 years.

However, just as in the case of Antarctica or the Sahara, naming a region doesn’t create a nation of Antarcticans or Saharans.
