Israeli archaeologists excavating near the Tower of David Museum uncovered a rare clay mold used to craft the face of a female figurine during the First Temple period, the first such mold ever found in Jerusalem.
The discovery offers the clearest evidence yet that some of the clay figurines commonly found across ancient Jerusalem were manufactured locally rather than imported.
