God ‘Gets His Mail’ Ahead of the Jewish Holidays

letters-to-god Kotel

People from around the world, of all faiths and creeds, send letters addressed to “God” and destined to Israel, and Israel’s postal service has delivered the letters, which will be placed between the stones of the Western Wall, ahead of the upcoming New Year Jewish holidays.

Israel Post Director General Danny Goldstein on Monday met with Kotel (Western Wall) Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz at the holy site, and delivered to him a consignment of letters addressed to God, which will be placed between the stones of the wall.

The letters were posted from Israel as well as from Russia, China, France, Nigeria, Spain, the Netherlands, the US, the UK and many other countries.

Hundreds of letters are mailed to Israel annually addressed to God, Our Dear Father in Heaven and the Western Wall.

These letters, most of which lack a return address, are sent to the Israel Post Lost and Found Department, which then sends them, once every few months, to be placed among the stones of the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem.
