While left-wing NGOs blame Israel for the lack of housing for Palestinians in Gaza, it is Hamas that is stealing construction materials to build up its terror infrastructure.

Palestine Press Agency reported that residents of a neighborhood in Beit Hanoun, Gaza, whose houses were destroyed in the summer of 2014 during Operation Protective Edge, are angry because the Hamas Land Authority is preventing them from rebuilding their houses.

Hamas says the area, known as “Azbat Beit Hanoun,” is government-owned land.

An official named Dr. Yousef Al-Kafarne said that the Land Authority also prevented UNRWA, the UN’s specialized Palestinian relief agency, from building and repairing there.

UNRWA did not issue any press release on this matter.

After some complaints and the intervention of some unnamed “Palestinian factions,” the Hamas Land Authority allowed partially destroyed houses to be rebuilt or renovated.

However, completely destroyed houses are forbidden from being rebuilt.

You may recall a few months ago that some left-wing NGOs said that no Gaza homes have been rebuilt from scratch, and blamed Israel for this, even though Israel is allowing tons of construction material to enter, with which Hamas is rebuilding its terror infrastructure unhindered, at the expense of Gaza’s residents.

Cash shortages from donors, as well as Gaza bureaucracy, were also blamed for the slowness of rebuilding.

It is now apparent that Hamas s been actively opposed to rebuilding homes.

Those NGOs are now silent.
