Israel police and lawyers are investigating and building a case against the terror group Hamas for crimes against humanity on the scale of the Eichmann trial, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Currently, police investigators and legal experts are examining interviews with first responders, survivors, and victims’ families as well as videos, documents, and forensic evidence of Hamas atrocities.

Israeli Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai described the October 7th massacre as “systematic and unprecedented in its cruelty.”

Forensic evidence revealed that many victims were burned alive, often with entire families bound together, sexually assaulted, and mutilated before and after death.

The result of the investigation is likely to be a trial that would be on the scale of Nazi official Adolf Eichmann, who was hanged for his central role in perpetrating the Holocaust.

“The state of Israel has never before dealt with crimes and an investigation on this scale,” said Roi Sheindorf, former deputy to the attorney general.

He added, “This will be one of the most important trials to take place in Israel.”

In addition, Israel is examining video evidence taken by Hamas terrorists themselves as well as confessions of captured terrorists after being questioned by Israeli police.

In some cases, Hamas terrorists posted videos of themselves committing atrocities and killing victims and posted them to the victim’s social media pages to torment their families.

Legal analysts say the main challenge in the investigation is missing forensic evidence due to the ongoing activity of Israel’s military to clear the kibbutzim on and immediately after October 7th.

The death toll on October 7th is estimated at 1,200, although identification of bodies is ongoing.

Hamas terrorists and others kidnapped roughly 250 people on Oct. 7, according to Israeli authorities.

Among evidence of other atrocities, such as torture and mutilation is the extensive indication of sexual assault.

Bodies were found with legs and pelvises broken, bloody underwear pulled down to the knees and genital mutilation perpetrated against both men and women.

In some cases, the genital mutilation was so severe, that the gender of the corpse couldn’t be determined.

One female corpse had nails driven into her groin, whereas others were shot in the genitals.
