Hamas Working to Escalate Terror, Defense Minister Warns

Security forces are on high alert in the wake of the most recent Arab attacks on Israeli citizens. Defense Minister Ya’alon warns of Hamas plots to generate more terror.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon warns that Hamas is working diligently to generate terror in Judea and Samaria in an attempt to escalate the situation.

Speaking on Tuesday morning at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Ya’alon said that Hamas was directing its terror operations from its headquarters in Gaza and in Turkey.

“There is major pressure from the outside, especially from Muslim organizations with an emphasis on Hamas, to ‘heat up’ the situation in Judea and Samaria,” said Ya’alon.

“We continue to operate there [Judea and Samaria] to thwart terrorist attacks and uncover terrorist networks, which are mainly operated from the outside, whether from the Gaza Strip and or from Turkey.” The IDF was still operating with reinforced units, Ya’alon stressed.

“Our enemies do not stop presenting us with challenges,” he added. “The defense establishment did not go into recess [because of the elections] and continues to operate with full force to ensure peace and security to the citizens of Israel.”

Another Foiled Terror Attack

As if to prove Ya’alon’s point, two Arabs were arrested Tuesday morning outside the community of Tekoa in Gush Etzion, admittedly on their way to slaughter Jews with knifes.

The IDF had prior intelligence about the pending attack.

One of the arrested terrorists is the nephew of Amar Abu Aysha, who kidnapped and murdered three Israeli teenagers this past summer.

Just last week an Arab woman who attempted to stab Israeli civilians at the Gush Etzion junction was shot and killed by IDF soldiers, thus averting another potentially lethal attack.

Hamas Rebuilding its Terror Network

A recent Shabak (Israel’s Security Agency) investigation uncovered a terrorist plot in which Hamas terrorists planned to run over Israelis and IDF soldiers with a vehicle in the Gush Etzion area.

A Shabak spokesman explained that Hamas is attempting to rebuild its terror infrastructure in Judea and Samaria, which was heavily damaged by the IDF after the kidnapping of the Israeli teens.

The terror organization, which joined a unity government with the Palestinian Authority in June, continues to incite violence in Jerusalem and its environs on its official sites.

We demand that all funding of the PA be stopped immediately. The brutal murder of Israelis committed by Palestinian terrorists throughout Israel is the latest result of ongoing PA incitement against Israeli citizens. Funding the PA means funding terror.
