After the Obama administration opened a Twitter account to explain the Iran nuclear deal and take questions from the public, United with Israel asked its followers to contact the White House and ask the tough questions.

BACKGROUND

The White House launched a new Twitter account, using the handle @TheIranDeal, dedicated to answering the public’s questions on the nuclear deal signed between Iran and world powers.

“It will distribute facts, engage online audiences, and be used as a forum by those involved in negotiating the agreement,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said aboard Air Force One on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

Opponents of the deal, in particular 2016 Republican presidential candidates, responded fiercely to the new handle on Twitter. US Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tweeted “*BLOCK*” after re-tweeting a post about the handle. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal wrote, “.c, why did you make a deal with United Nations before the US Congress? Shows us where your priorities are.”

US Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Ill.) tweeted, “Hey @TheIranDeal, 176 House members and counting are ready to vote you down. #yourmove.”

UPDATE

United with Israel’s Call to Action has encouraged thousands of supporters to contact the White House to protest the deal. Since Congress has until mid-September to review the deal, there is still time to protest!
