Israeli security forces arrested five activists during targeted raids on two organizations in Judea and Samaria that allegedly operated as fronts for Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the IDF and Shin Bet said Wednesday.
The operations targeted the offices of the Addameer organization in Ramallah and the Islamic Association for Orphan Care in Yatta.
Earlier this week, IDF and Shin Bet forces raided Addameer’s offices in Ramallah, arresting suspects and seizing computers, documents and checkbooks bearing markings associated with designated Hamas funds, according to the security agencies.
Israeli authorities said Addameer is funded by terrorist money and provides legal assistance to imprisoned PFLP terrorists.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, some terrorists who worked for the organization were involved in the Aug. 23, 2019 bombing at the Ein Dani spring near Dolev, which killed 17-year-old Rina Shnerb.
In a separate operation in recent weeks, IDF forces, acting on Shin Bet intelligence, raided the offices of the Islamic Association for Orphan Care in Yatta.
Suspects were arrested and materials bearing markings associated with designated Hamas funds were seized and transferred for further investigation.
Israeli authorities have designated the association an illegal organization, saying it served as an organizational and financial arm of Hamas, transferred money to the terrorist group and provided support to the families of terrorists and prisoners.
The IDF and Shin Bet said the organization’s director and other senior officials are Hamas terrorists who have previously served prison sentences.
According to the security agencies, Hamas used the association’s ostensibly civilian activities to strengthen the terrorist group’s infrastructure and influence in Yatta.
Israeli authorities said both organizations had been declared illegal associations and served as organizational and financial arms of terrorist groups while supporting and advancing terrorist activity throughout Judea and Samaria.
Israeli security forces vowed to continue operations against terrorist infrastructure across Judea and Samaria and take action against those seeking to harm Israeli civilians and security personnel.
