Although CIA attempts at recruiting Israeli military personnel have reportedly been ongoing for years, the IDF has now issued a new warning to its soldiers.

The IDF is warning officers and soldiers to be wary of CIA attempts at recruitment, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Sunday.

The warning calls on the IDF military to “be aware and report any unusual incidents.” It quotes an article from the daily Yediot Ahronot back in 2012 regarding post-army men and women, upon arrival in the US, as targets for recruitment.

Indeed, the phenomenon is not new, and many are wondering why the IDF is issuing the warning at this particular time.

“Every security body fears having its confidential information leaked,” an IDF spokesperson told Channel 2.
