A 25-year-old Jewish Jerusalem resident was the latest victim of the wave of Palestinian terror sweeping the country.
An Israeli was critically wounded by a knife-wielding Arab terrorist in Jerusalem on Thursday while he was waiting for the light-rail train.
The 19-year-old Palestinian attacked the Israeli civilian, 25, and stabbed him in the neck at a tram station adjacent to the Israeli police national headquarters.
The terrorist then proceeded to search for another victim. He encountered a tram guard and scuffled with him, during which he tried to take the guard’s weapon.
The terrorist managed to escape and tried to hijack a car, but was soon caught and neutralized by a police unit.
The Israeli victim was evacuated to Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem, were he is to be operated on. The tram guard was treated for a light wound in his legs.
A police spokesman commended the responding police unit and said that their swift actions prevented further tragedy.
The tram’s operations were halted for a while after the attack.
The terrorist was subsequently identified by the Shabak (Israel’s Security Agency) as Subhi Ibrahim Mahmad Abu Halifa, a resident of Jerusalem with Israeli citizenship. He has no prior record of terror-related activities.
This is the sixth Palestinian terror attack to strike at Israel’s population in the past 24 hours and the fourth stabbing attack in the capital since the beginning of October.
On Wednesday, a Palestinian terrorist from Hebron stabbed an Israeli near a mall in Petah Tikvah. Later, a Palestinian was shot near Jerusalem as he tried to crash into a police checkpoint with his car.
Earlier, in Jerusalem, a Palestinian female terrorist stabbed and moderately wounded an Israeli, who shot and wounded her. In southern Israel, a terrorist attacked an IDF soldier and grabbed his weapon. The terrorist was shot and killed by police shortly after.
On Wednesday morning, an Israeli woman was beaten and only narrowly escaped being lynched by a Palestinian mob as she was driving to Jerusalem.
