J Street Jews – the New Uncle Tom

Kerry addresses J Street

J Street Jews are the Jewish equivalent to Uncle Tom. Their lives are not in any danger, but they chose to curry favor with the “elite” against their own people.

I read that J Street received a great deal of money – $576,500 – to promote the Iran nuclear deal, a deal that was strongly opposed by the vast majority of Israelis across the political spectrum.

I used to compare Jew-hating Jews, like the members of J Street, to Kapos, those people who, working in the killing camps of the Nazis, had to make moral decisions regarding how far they would go to save their own lives. I realize I made a terrible mistake. I was terribly judgmental. I cannot look back on their situation and say they can be compared to anti-Semitic Jews. I should never have made that comparison and I want to apologize to the descendants of the Kapos. J Street Jews are in a crowd of their own.

I think the J Street Jews are the Jewish equivalent to Uncle Tom. Their lives are not in any danger. They, like all Uncle Toms, have chosen to curry favor with the “elite” and turn on their own people. Today the elite is represented by Barack Obama, the President of the United States, and J Street is supporting the American leader even as he reconsiders ties with Israel.

Perhaps money talks. Or perhaps it is the Uncle Tom syndrome. I don’t know how much influence J Street has acquired during Obama’s reign. I leave that for another time. But I understand their appeal to Obama and his to them. Symbiotic. They need each other.

Barack Hussein Obama was raised in a Muslim culture for six years – his formative years. He grew up in a culture that hated Jews and shared that hate. Hate is almost an Islamic religious requirement. And then, when he was older, he attended the Church of Jeremiah Wright- a hateful, spiteful anti-Semite.  Obama heard Jew hatred in that Church. But the J Street Jews – well, they are different.

They are his kind of Jew. He feels comfortable with them; one of them, an honorary member of the tribe. They have the same worldview regarding Israel. Obama, when speaking to a group of Jews, said, “Most of all, I want to thank the entire congregation of Adas Israel for having me here today. Earlier this week, I was actually interviewed by one of your members, Jeff Goldberg. And Jeff reminded me he once called me the first Jewish president. Now, since some people still seem to be wondering about my faith, I should make clear this is an honorary title, but I was flattered. And as an honorary member of the tribe, not to mention somebody who has hosted seven White House seders and has been advised by two Jewish chiefs of staff.”

One of those Jewish chiefs of staff is Ben Rhodes. Yes the same Ben Rhodes, who boasted about creating an “echo chamber” among susceptible young journalists, policy experts and officials to spin the administration’s narrative of the nuclear agreement, including false and misleading claims.

Obama has done his best to elevate Islam above its terrorist and barbaric practices while attacking Israel. In August 2012 Mr. Obama said the rituals of Ramadan “remind us of the principles that we hold in common and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings. Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality. And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.”

July 28 2014, he reiterated his view: “In the United States, Eid also reminds us of the many achievements and contributions of Muslim Americans to building the very fabric of our nation and strengthening the core of our democracy.”

There is no historical record of any Muslim or Islamic law affecting the formation or development of America. Perhaps the president would consider supplying some names. And the names of all the other Muslims who helped shape America. In truth, it is the Jewish people who have “made extraordinary contributions” to America.

During the Civil Rights era Jews were involved in voter registration. Two Jewish boys, Andre Goodman and Michael Schwerner, were murdered in Mississippi in June 1964. Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel participated in the Civil Rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, on March 21, 1965, standing with Martin Luther King Jr.

According to historical documents the Puritans who first came to America brought the Hebrew Bible with them, sharing the concepts of the prophets, lawgivers, and sages of Israel providing the framework for the newly established democracy.

Universities, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia (formerly King’s College) University of Chicago, and William and Mary taught Hebrew Scripture; the morals and values it contained that would underpin all documents. The colonists believed in the need for “the imposition of an outside code of laws…In them, the colonists felt, was to be found democracy as they understood it.” The “Mosaic rulings…were used as a supreme authority when any occasion arose that required the citation of a precedent.” Leaders like George Washington and John Adams, influential in the writing of the documents of freedom for the new America, were steeped in the teaching of the Jewish people.

John Adams , a member of the Declaration of Independence committee and second president of the United States (1797–1801), understood the deep connection between ethical monotheism and freedom:

“I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize men than any other nation. If I were an atheist, and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be the most essential instrument for civilizing the nations. If I were an atheist of the other sect, who believe or pretend to believe that all is ordered by chance, I should believe that chance had ordered the Jews to preserve and propagate to all mankind the doctrine of a supreme, intelligent, wise, almighty, sovereign of the universe, which I believe to be a great essential principle of all morality, and consequently of all civilization.”

Obama cannot bring himself to acknowledge the importance of the Jewish people to America, to Western culture. So he surrounds himself with Jews who pander to his well-developed anti-Jewish/anti-Israel beliefs and then share them as his spokespeople. This is the symbiotic relationship between Obama and the J Street Jews. The Jews as Uncle Tom are pandering for influence with the Master.

I cannot write this article, my first since the death of Elie Wiesel, without commenting on this great man who received the Nobel peace prize in 1986, which was sullied when in 2009 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Barack Obama for his “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” I will hold my tongue.

I believe that Elie Wiesel’s heart broke when he realized that after all he has done to repair the world, to end the illogical hate for the Jewish people and the State of Israel, we are still in the midst of the Holocaust-Jew hatred is at an all -time high. Condemnation of Israel is rampant. I can’t imagine how he felt when the Presbyterians declared their negative stance toward Israel, the Jewish State, making demands that would make Hitler proud.
