Media Fails to Report Deadly Palestinian Attack as ‘Terror’

The mainstream media continues its biased coverage of current events in Israel, presenting a skewed account of Tuesday’s deadly terror attack.

The main news outlets around the world presented a skewed account of events when they reported on Tuesday’s terror attack, in which a Palestinian terrorist shot and killed three Israeli security officials and wounded a fourth in Har Adar, near Jerusalem.

CNN’s headline read: “Three Israelis killed in shooting at West Bank crossing,” without mentioning that the shooting was committed by a Palestinian or that it was an act of terrorism.

Only much further down in the article does the report quote police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, who stated that “the alleged attacker, a 37-year-old Palestinian man from the village of Beit Surik, was killed by police.”

The media largely framed the murders in the context of “Israeli settlements” in the “occupied West Bank,” essentially justifying the deadly attack.

“Three Israelis Shot Dead by Palestinian at West Bank Settlement,” NBC reported, with no reference to terrorism in the headline.

NBC quoted the Israeli Security Agency which pointed out that the terrorist’s spouse had left him and their four children several weeks ago, but failed to report that that the terrorist violently abused his estranged wife.

The BBC report was better, but still had its shortcomings.

“Palestinian gunman kills three Israelis,” the BBC‘s headline read, mentioning the terrorist’s identity, but failing to mention that the attack was terrorism.

The BBC has been criticized in the past on multiple occasions for its anti-Israel agenda and even its false reporting on events in Israel.

In July, former chairman of the BBC Lord Michael Grade blasted the network for its biased coverage of Palestinian terror attacks.

“If the BBC can get this wrong,” Grade said, “it is little wonder that Israel finds it so hard to put aside the idea that some critics are motivated by something more sinister than political commentary.”

While the media has denied its bias against the Jewish State, numerous documented incidents of media bias and unprofessional journalism demonstrate that there is indeed systemic bias on the part of the foreign press in Israel.
