In China for the Miss World beauty pageant, Israeli contestant Rotem Rabi keeps kosher, “living on pineapple and cookies.”

Rotem Rabi of Jerusalem, 21, is representing Israel in the Miss World 2017 contest to be held in Shenzhen, China, on November 18, and she is already in the country working hard, preparing for the big event. What she is not doing too much of, however, is eating, as Rabi keeps kosher.

As reported by Arutz-7, Rabi will not compromise on her principles, as she has always kept kosher, even when abroad.  The young beauty worked for several months last year modeling in Italy.

Finding kosher food in China is more of a challenge than usual. Speaking with Yediot Aharonot, Rabi said, “I’m living on pineapple and cookies, and I hope that the problem will be solved in the next few days.”

According to Ynet, Rabi’s parents divorced when she was three, and while she lived in a traditional home with her mother in Jerusalem, her father became fully observant and remarried. Rabi served as a medic in the IDF after graduating as an outstanding officer in an operational unit of the Israel Air Force. Today she works as a branch manager for Charles and Keith footwear and accessories retailer while starting the process of joining the Israel Police’s investigative division. In the future, she would like to study criminology.

For now, she is concentrating on her goal to become the second Israeli Miss World since Linor Abergil won in 1998. Interactions with fellow contestants have broadened to include explanations of her unique dietary restrictions. They were all “quite fascinated” by the subject, she says.

As there is a Chabad House in Shenzen, Rabi should soon have a little more variety in her diet.
