No Thank You Coming to Obama

Peres and Obama

RE: ‘Peres slams Israeli critics of Obama: It wouldn’t hurt us to say thank you’ (The Jerusalem Post). Yes, it would hurt!

Dear Former President Shimon Peres,

I am sure that it was a great honor to be feted with a ceremony at the White House and to be treated like royalty. You are a statesman for Israel and deserve praise.

You believe that Israelis who question Mr. Obama’s “friendship” with Israel are ungrateful. I am a patriotic, loyal American Jew by birth, and an Israeli by heart, and I believe that as an American and as an Israeli by heart I fall into that category. So I am going to answer this by sending my version of a thank you letter to President Obama.

Dear President Obama,

Yes it would hurt to say thank you. Here’s why.

Yes, it is true that Israel apparently has had close security cooperation with the United States during your presidency. I will give you that … for now, however…

I will not thank a president who has fundamentally changed the Middle East to make it less safe for everyone.

I will not thank a president for fiddling or golfing while Syria burns. This is not leadership, and it certainly doesn’t help Israel, the United States or the world for that matter.

Your lack of support for an old, reliable and stable ally (Mubarak) almost caused Egypt to become a religious Muslim theocracy.

Your support for the Muslim Brotherhood (Muslim Nazis) is disturbing at best.

Your lack of support for Egypt’s new president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, is also disturbing. You could not have picked a better ally than el-Sisi in Egypt for Israelis or Americans. He is a religious man who wants to reform Islam, is friendly to the West and respects the peace treaty with Israel.

The Iranians sailing unimpeded through the Suez Canal after your “buddies” in the Muslim Brotherhood took control of Egypt should have been a hint.

The killing of Coptic Christians should have been a hint.

Mohamad Morsi’s attempt to change the laws of Egypt to Sharia law should have been a hint.

Of course you knew that would happen, didn’t you?

So on Egypt, President Obama, no thanks.

Now let’s talk about Prime Minister Netanyahu. For your first meeting with Netanyahu, you made him wait in the lobby of the White House while you ate your dinner.

You have been more hostile to the duly elected representative of the Jewish State than you have been to Bashar Assad, North Korea, Putin or even your favorite target, the Republicans. You may be worried about your poll numbers and your own agendas, but Netanyahu’s concerns are about Israel facing real existential threats.

Ahh, that game that you played with Israel – keeping your friends close but your enemies closer, when it comes to Iran – didn’t fool a Levine. Your lies were an insult to our intelligence. You denied that you were even negotiating with Iran.

You lied about the actual deal, its lack of any real monitoring.

You never intended to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. Your main goal was to stop Israel from defending herself.

Many of us knew that you were scheming to tilt the balance in the Middle East towards Iran. That nuclear farce that you pulled didn’t fool all of us.

What you have done, Mr. President, is guaranteed that my children and their children will face a world with a strong nuclear Iran as its nemesis.

What you have done, Mr. President, is to strengthen Iran’s proxy armies in Lebanon and Gaza, making Israel less safe.

On the one hand, you gave Israel what any president who has the support of the Congress and the American people would have received – military, emotional and spiritual support. You took credit for that in your little scheme, but we know that you had no choice. You couldn’t overtly (at least not yet) turn the country against Israel. No, you would do this slowly, imperceptibly with your leftist friends.

Occasionally the real Barack Obama would come out through stories or slips of the tongue by you or your closest advisors, such as, “Netanyahu is a chicken shit”, by an unknown spokesman. Ben Rhodes, your national security adviser, admitted in an interview that “the administration lied to the American people, and they did it through the media by creating an “echo chamber” filled with false talking points.”  Leon Panetta, the former head of the CIA and secretary of defense, was recently quoted as saying, “yeah, we lied to the Israelis that we’d stop Iran from going nuclear.” Panetta, in a New York Times interview, admitted that when he was secretary of defense his primary responsibility was to keep Netanyahu and his defense minister, Ehud Barak, from launching an airstrike on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Speaking about Prime Minister Netanyahu and former defense minister Ehud Barak, Panetta said:

“They were both interested in the answer to the question, ‘Is the president serious?’ And you know my view, talking with the president, was: If brought to the point where we had evidence that they’re developing an atomic weapon, I think the president is serious that he is not going to allow that to happen.”

Asked by the Times, “But would you make that same assessment now?” Panetta acknowledges, “Would I make that same assessment now? Probably not.”

Mr. President, we know that you set up J Street with the help of your “friends” to “balance” out AIPAC, meaning to help divide the Jews and conquer.  Unfortunately, there are many Jewish freiers (suckers).

You played people of goodwill and hearts by using them for your own nefarious purposes.

You convinced many liberal Jews to denounce Netanyahu for daring speak directly to the people of the United States in Congress because Netanyahu knew your game.

Rabbis signed agreements in support of your Iran deal. Jews in Congress were absent when it came time to call you to task for your obvious lies about Iran.

As P.T. Barnum once said, there is a sucker born every minute. Was he Jewish?

So now your new “friend.” Iran, has been guaranteed a path to becoming a nuclear, nightmarish threat. They have been enriched with over 100 billion dollars in which to keep on being THE number one supporter of terror in the world.

You pulled out of Iraq completely against all of your general’s advice and helped create yet another terror group, ISIS. You know … as you referred to them, the JV team.

You and your then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (whom you now endorsed for the presidency) destabilized the entire Middle East due to your hairbrained plan to get rid of a benign, neutered ally, Gaddafi. Libya is now a club med for ISIS.

So to answer Mr. Peres’ comments regarding a thank you:

Thank you to the United States Congress, citizens and military for helping Israel.

As for you, President Obama, sorry, no thank you forthcoming.

Larry
