A senior Palestinian official says the Palestinians have not been invited to next week’s Middle East conference in Poland.
Even if they had been invited, however, the Palestinians claim they would have no desire to participate in it, unless the U.S. changed its policies.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was invited and plans on attending the summit. The U.S. and Poland are sponsoring the Feb. 13-14 conference to promote peace and security in the region.
Speaking about the conference that the Palestinians were snubbed by, Nabil Abu Rdeneh, spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said Wednesday that current American policies will “only lead to futile results.”
The Palestinians routinely accuse the Trump administration of being biased in favor of Israel. They say they will reject any planned U.S. peace initiative proposed by Trump, unless it endorses an independent Palestinian state in Judea and Samaria and the Gaza Strip, with eastern Jerusalem as its capital.
The Palestinians have rejected every single peace plan presented during the last 70 years, including a 2008 plan in which Israel offered to withdraw from 98 percent of Judea and Samaria, leading many to speculate that Palestinian leadership is ultimately opposed to a peace deal of any kind with Israel.
