WATCH: Western Wall Gets Ready for Passover!

Western Wall

Workers remove handwritten notes placed between the ancient stones of the Western Wall, in the Old City of Jerusalem on April 2, 2023. The operation is carried out twice each year, before the Passover festival and at the Jewish New Year. Photo by Yonatan Sindel/Flash90

Not only is the Jewish people in full ‘spring cleaning mode’ ahead of Passover – the Western Wall is, too!

While Jews around the world are busy cleaning out their homes in preparation for the holiday, the Western Wall is also getting ready for the holiday of freedom.

Twice a year, the holy site is cleaned and the thousands upon thousands of handwritten prayer notes from around the globe are removed.

Watch the wall being cleaned out, and find out what happens to the notes!
