This week, Boston University’s Student Government recklessly voted to hold a school-wide referendum on whether to adopt the antisemitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

This decision, based on a misleading and biased resolution, gives legitimacy to a campaign that spreads false accusations against Israel and creates a hostile campus environment for Jewish students.

BU now stands at a crossroads. Will it stand for academic integrity and student safety, or will it cave to a hateful movement that has been proven to fuel antisemitism on college campuses?

BDS does not promote peace—it seeks to delegitimize Israel’s very existence and punish companies that do business with the Jewish state.

The movement relies on false claims, including the outrageous accusation that Israel is committing genocide, and uses these lies to justify economic and social isolation.

BU is already under investigation by the U.S. Department of Education for failing to protect its Jewish students. Allowing this referendum to move forward will only make the situation worse.

Regardless of the outcome, the university must take a stand now and firmly reject BDS. Institutions of higher learning should be spaces for open dialogue—not places where Jewish students feel unsafe and unwelcome.
