Tell European diplomats to stop meddling in Israeli affairs by trying to prevent the construction of new homes in Jerusalem.
Israel recently announced it will permit the construction of over 1,200 new homes in Jerusalem’s Givat Hamatos neighborhood, which is already home to a large community of Ethiopian and Russian immigrants to Israel.
In response, a group of European diplomats showed up on Monday to protest, meddling in Israel’s plans to create homes for its citizens.
Jerusalem Council member Arieh King led a group of Israeli activists who counter-protested, sending the Europeans on their way.
“The Jewish residents of Givat Hamatos together with the lovers of Jerusalem are protesting against the representatives of the European Union and their representatives in the country Peace Now and are showing them the way out of Givat Hamatos,” he said on Twitter, where he posted a clip of the Europeans driving off.
“We came to tell the EU that Israel is not a colony –- it is an independent country that does not take orders from them,” the Im Tirzu organization stated.
“The Israeli government needs to send a similar message to the EU and ensure that these hypocrites stop harming Israeli sovereignty.”
